About Us

While many locals and regulars know our history, we often get the question: who is the infamous, Bridget Foy?

OG-Bridget-Foy

A Short History

In 1978, East Philly Cafe opened on the corner of the 200 block of Philadelphia’s famed South Street. It was in this restaurant that East Philly Cafe owner John Foy met his future wife, Bernadette. In 1982 John, Bernadette, and Bernadette’s son Adam welcomed a new addition to their family of three, Bridget Foy. In 1984 East Philly Cafe donned a new name; Bridget Foy’s. Bridget Foy’s served as a staple of the community until 2017 when it suffered a devastating fire that led to the opening of its sister restaurant, Cry Baby Pasta. In 2020, in the face of a global pandemic, through massive amounts of hard work and elbow grease, the Foy family was able to re-open Bridget Foy’s. With its fresh spin on the classic neighborhood bar and kitchen, Bridget Foy’s and the entire team welcome you to eat, enjoy, savor, and make yourself at home here.
